The surf bucket list–what’s on yours?

Do you have a surf bucket list?

We thought it’d be fun covering the bucket list of surf spots surfers would like to surf—to help you with your travel plans in 2026.

Pipeline (Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi) — The most famous barrel in the world, where apparently everyone wants to die.

Waimea Bay (Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi) — Where big-wave surfing was born. This must be for the history buffs.

Mavericks (California, USA) — So cold and heavy, this is a different level of bragging rights.

Teahupoʻo (Tahiti) — You guys really want to get scalped on that reef, don’t you?

Jaws / Peʻahi (Maui, Hawaiʻi) — I just want to know: do you intend to paddle in or tow in? Because that’s two different types of surfing.

I know a lot of people also dream of more manageable waves like Malibu (California, USA) or Rincon (California, USA), or those in the tropics—so Uluwatu (Bali, Indonesia), and of course everyone is obsessed with the Mentawai Islands (Indonesia).

You know what’s on my bucket list? Venice Breakwater—1–2 feet, minimal energy, offshore wind, all day long, for two weeks.
