A Surf Directory for Beginners That Actually Gets You

The All Things Surf Directory is a resource hub for beginner surfers who want to find lessons, gear, shops, events, and communities—without having to decode bro-speak or dig through outdated listings. Whether you’re brand new to surfing or just looking for something more beginner-friendly, this directory was built for you.

Created by the team behind The Wipeout Weekly and Girls Who Can’t Surf Good, we designed the directory to feel like the surf buddy you always wanted: one who actually tells you which surf schools are chill, where to rent boards without getting scammed, and what events are worth your time.

The directory covers three main areas: Surf Listings (coaches, camps, shops, indie brands, meetups, online groups), Surf-Side Lodging (hotels, hostels, budget-friendly beach stays), and Surf Retreats & Events (from women-led intensives to local beach cleanups and film nights).

Everything listed has been reviewed, recommended, or hand-picked by our community. We prioritize businesses that are beginner-friendly, inclusive, and not just trying to sell you a pro package with a GoPro add-on and dreams of Pipe.

Some listings are paid. Most are not. If we love it, we’ll list it. If it’s helpful, it stays. If it’s not beginner-friendly, it’s out. No exceptions.

If you’re looking for a surf directory that actually speaks your language—no gatekeeping, no elitism—All Things Surf is here for you.

Browse based on your location, vibe, or needs. New entries are added regularly—some global, some local, all beginner-approved.

We believe surfing should feel welcoming, not overwhelming. That’s why we built this directory—to connect the dots between where you are and where you want to surf next.

The All Things Surf Directory: a surf directory for beginners who want to explore more, spend wisely, and paddle out with confidence.

ALL THINGS SURF DIRECTORY

A curated, location-based hub for surf businesses and community listings worldwide.

adding a listing is free

SURF LISTINGS

Surf listings are for any surf or surf-adjacent business or community posts.

This includes surf coaches, surf shops, wave pools (yes, yes—we know), surf photographers, custom board shapers, wellness providers, and more.
Also: Classifieds. Surf stuff for sale, ISO listings, giveaways, swaps, and community posts—including looking for a surf buddy.
In short: any surf business or "surf stuff" that isn’t a lodging and isn’t tied to specific dates, like a surf retreat.

SURF RETREATS & EVENTS

Surf retreats & event listings are for experiences that take place on specific dates.

If you run a surf retreat, you can create one persistent surf listing for your business and add multiple retreat listings tied to specific dates.
Events can be one-off or recurring.
If you’re a meet-up organizer, we recommend starting with a surf listing so your group can be discovered locally—even when you don’t have any meet-ups scheduled.

SURF-SIDE LODGING

Surf-side lodging listings are for businesses or individuals offering accommodation near surf spots.

This includes surf houses, camps, hostels, hotels, camp sites and private rentals that cater to surfers looking to stay close to the waves.
Looking for a housemate? Surf-side lodging works for that too. No full address required.

how to add a listing

The All Things Surf Directory is location-based.

You’ll be asked to:
• Provide an address (or select an approximate location on the map, if you prefer)

• Describe your venture or "surf stuff"

• Choose your category (if none applies, select Other surf—we’re adding new categories weekly)

• Upload at least one representative image (landscape pics display best)

• Include a website URL or a link where to find more information (required to prevent spam)

• Provide a contact email address
You will create an account and will be able to edit any listing you own at any time using the Author Actions dropdown on the listing.
That’s it.

No time like the present.

why now and why this directory

At The Wipeout Weekly, we believe in being useful, supportive, and collaborative.

Over the years, surfers—especially beginners and late starters—have repeatedly asked the same questions:
Who do you trust?
Where should I go?
Which surf coaches, retreats, shops, and places are actually beginner-friendly?
For answers, most surfers turn to social media or search—both driven by pesky algorithms and noise.

We’re building a home for all things surf—online, in community, and in-app—grounded in trust and real experience.

And this is just the beginnng.
be part of it.
